Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Hands-on testing of materials and processes used in the manufacture of space products, analysing results and reporting data to enable internal customers to make informed pass/fail decisions
Support Materials Engineering investigations, produce reports on the results drawing concise conclusions, and present the findings to internal / external customers
Support development and qualification programmes
Continuous maintenance /review of Material Laboratory Procedures (MLP) / Lab working Processes
We are looking for candidates with the following laboratory skills and / or experience:
Experience (+3 years) in preparation techniques for EEE components / PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) and micro-sectioning experience – multilayer PCBs /EEE components & micro-section report writing.
Knowledge of mechanical testing / thermal cycling / material graphic inspection techniques/ DPA (Destructive Physical Analysis).
Good knowledge of ECSS specifications for component solder mounting qualification and PCB analysis. ECSS qualified inspector certification, whilst not essential, would be a distinct advantage
Demonstrable team working skills, communication and presentation capability
Flexible and proactive approach to work and prepared to work shift patterns if needed
PC literate, report and specification writing, database maintenance and spreadsheets
Fluent in written and spoken English
