Production Engineer

Basic Purpose & Objective:

To design and implement minor component engineering changes within the current product design which; enhance the product specification; reduce the material cost and assembly time; and/or improve the build Quality.

To create and develop Quality Control Plans which ensure that the sourcing of components and their introduction into production eliminate all risk of failure.

To measure and manage the distribution of work elements within the facility to achieve the targeted throughput rate. Further, where necessary; to identify and introduce opportunities for improvement to product; layout; methods; tooling; health & safety; logistics; and operational disciplines.

To contribute to major Product Engineering changes, in regards to process considerations. To liaise with Suppliers and all internal functions to ensure the successful introduction of tasked projects.

To evaluate supplied products and/or present for performance validation to ensure the specification required is achieved.

To facilitate the non-conformance processes and coordinate/effect robust cause and corrective solutions.

To review Material (BOM) & Labour Costs and reduce via Process & Product Changes.

To create and/or amend the Company's systems and procedures to reflect the actual or targeted situation.

To be familiar with and work to the Company's systems and procedures. To ensure that with all personnel interactions the appropriate disciplines are observed and to instruct others in changes to system practises.

To control the timing of engineering change (ECO's) in the ERP system (Syspro) to reflect the operational capabilities of the business. Further, to ensure the changes represent the best commercial position for the business.

To effectively communicate to all supporting functions agreed key changes to the production processes and facilities to ensure that appropriate actions are taken to manage continuity of production. To advise senior management when adequate control fails to be exercised.

To routinely report on achievement against Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

Position Scope:

To generally improve the operational quality, cost and delivery efficiency of the production facility within the specified range of responsibility.

Maintain a high level of integrity in regards to all aspects of the operational controls as defined in the Company's Quality Management System (QMS). transferred to the Buyers on the team to chase.
 

Skills and Experience required:

Previous experience within a production facility with involvement in either aerospace or automotive production would be advantagious.
