Supplier Quality Engineer
Reports To: Head of Quality Issue Date:
No. Reporting Staff: 1 Quality Engineer

Basic Purpose & Objective:

To be key contact for Supplier issues and NCR ownership.
To prepare quality data and statistics for timely weekly/monthly reporting.
To support purchasing activities with regards to quality (AQP, APQP etc.)
Ensure that non-conforming product is suitably identified and controlled.
Supplier development towards company standards/requirements including vendor rating system.
Travel as required to support supplier activities.
Ensure new and existing suppliers are audited as required.
Ensure Quarantine and RTV process is managed by Quality Engineer according to procedure

Position Scope:

The position is centred on planning, organizing and controlling quality improvements with regards to suppliers
Problem identification and resolution with supplier issues.
Planning and preparation of resources to ensure material supply quality is to its highest standard and maintained.
Manage ISIR submissions and sign-off. Incl. supplier support.
Apply APQP techniques/tools to suppliers as appropriate (PPAP, FMEA, PCP etc.).
Overall owner of Return to Vendor (RTV) process.
Ensure direct reports are suitably lead and mentored. Advice and support to be provided as required, including performance reviews.

Accountability Statement:

Conduct internal audits as per internal audit schedule.
To update QMS documentation in-line with company requirements.
To highlight problems, concerns and deficiencies within the QMS.
To co-ordinate problem investigations and ensure timely resolution and suitability of corrective/preventative actions.
Provide production line support as required.
Project support as required, particularly with regards to ensuring ISIR sign-off for new products as part of the ECO process.
To drive resolutions to Supplier NCR's.
Maintain supplier manual and ensure suppliers are fully conversant with its requirements.
Ensure supplier non-conforming material is dealt with quickly and efficiently to reduce cost to the business.

Decision Making Authority:

Authority to quarantine 'out of spec' material/product.
Authority to sign-off or reject ISIR submissions from Suppliers
 

Skills and Experience required:

A full and detailed understanding of ISO9001:2000
Excellent working knowledge of standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Viso).

Certified internal auditor to ISO9001:2000

Working knowledge of problem solving tools

Understanding of statistical techniques

Working knowledge of FMEA and Control Plans.

Full working knowledge of Quality Planning tools, such as PPAP, APQP, PSW etc

Salary: £27K - £29K
