Mechanical Design Engineer                                                                 Ref: J11107

Purpose:

To generate designs from either renderings/industrial design schemes or other data, that meet the customer and airframe expectation and specifications

Responsibilities:
To develop designs which meet all customer and airframe specifications whilst optimising: -
Weight
Quality fit for purpose
DFM, QFD
Minimalisation of complexity
Utilisation of standard parts
Maintainability
To be aware of the financial impact the design and changes to that design generates.
To be able to read either, specifications, drawings and other data in an accurate fashion and interpret that information and incorporate that information into the design.
To work accurately to defined time frames.
To be a member of a project core team and to participate in the direction the design/project is taking.
Have the ability to represent the company at either the Customer, OEM or other company locations.
Ensure that any design complies with the regulatory body certifying the product.
To be an active participant in the promotion of a working culture that is not separated by departments but actively works as a team.
To work actively with colleagues to develop best working practices.
 

Skills and Experience required:

CAD based design package experience within Aviation, e.g. Anvil or Catia
Experience of Mechanical composite structures
Experience of working at Customer locations

Other:
Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and abroad, sometimes at short notice and extended periods.
